Program Overview
The Horticulture program at Dauphin County Technical School focuses on understanding and caring for plants. In addition to plant biology and botany, coursework also includes safety, horticultural business practices, new and emerging trends in the industry, plant identification and pesticide education. A 3,000 square foot greenhouse allows the student to propagate plants by seeds and cuttings as well as hydroponic, aeroponic and aquaculture methods. If you have a passion for growing and caring for plants and ultimately our planet, the Horticulture program at Dauphin County Technical School is the place for you!
Landscaping & Greenhouse Production focuses on improving the appearance of the outdoors as well as producing and caring for plants. Plant biology and botany are included in the curriculum in addition to pesticide education, horticulture business and plant identification. Students have the opportunity to work in our 3,000 square foot greenhouse propagating plants through a variety of methods. Aquaponics, hydroponics and aeroponics are also part of the program. Landscape & hardscape design, installation and maintenance will be a focus.
