Veterinary Assistant Program (Begins May 2011)
This informative 300 hour program will teach you skills high in demand in veterinary facilities, animal hospitals, animal shelters, and animal laboratories in large, small and exotic animal practices. Veterinary assistants help veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with many duties in such areas as office work, animal nursing care, surgical assisting, laboratory sampling, and client education.
You will be part of the animal handling, diagnostic, examination, and treatments team!
VETERINARY ASSISTANT PROGRAM CURRICULUM:
- Large Animal Procedures
- Small and Companion Animal Procedures
- Exotic Animal Procedures
- Laboratory Procedures
- Office Procedures
- Pharmacy Procedures
- Radiology Procedures
- Surgical Assisting
At the end of the program, you will have the opportunity to take the PVMA or Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association exam. This is an exam endorsement recognized in the state of PA by PVMA, PA Department of Agriculture, and PDE. There is a written and practical portion to the exam.
