Basic Sewing and Alterations
This 21-hour course introduces basic sewing techniques and theory. It provides practical hands on training of basic measuring, cutting, and hand sewing.
Topics include:
- Measuring
- Pinning
- Draping
- Basic hand stitches
- Fabric content
- Pattern reading
- Restyling and interior design prerequisites
- Tapes and interfacings
- Practice with trade tools
The program is ideal for the general public looking to acquire new domestic and career skills, or refresh training. It provides the knowledge needed for interior design, restyling, and garment construction. Please contact the Dauphin County Technical School Continuing Education Office with any questions.
