INDUSTRY TRAINING
Customized Job Training Grants (CJT)
As part of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's
strategy for economic development, the state's CJT program provides money
for training employees in the skills employers want. Dauphin County Technical
School can be an essential partner in helping you identify, provide, and pay
for the training that will result in those skills.
Any Business, Professional Service or other enterprise
(except a Point-of-Sale retail business) is eligible to apply for state CJT
funding. Applications for funding must go through a Local Education Agency
(LEA). As a state certified LEA, DCTech will help you assess your training
needs, determine the specific curriculum to meet your goals, and write the
CJT application grant. For example, DCTech wrote successful CJTs for:
Dauphin Graphics Machine, Inc. ($60,000) to train
32 new employees and upgrade 138 existing employees in the areas of Manufacturing,
Engineering, Management Information Systems, Purchasing, and Material Management
Ingram Micro, Inc. ($167,000) to implement a
skill-based program that focuses on team building, safety awareness, and on-the-job
training in shipping, receiving, and inventory processing
Customized Skill Training
Not only can DCTech help you find CJT funding,
we can also provide training - whether or not it's a CJT contract. Quality
and flexibility are the hallmarks of our service.
We'll design the training program according to
your specifications, and then offer it at your site, or ours. DCTech has up-to-date
equipment and top instructors in 23 different technical areas, and your employees
have their choice of daytime or evening classes, depending on the program
requirements. For example, DCTech provided: § CAD training for 12 weeks for
TYCO, Inc. § Inspection training for Rohrer Bus Services § Apprenticeship
testing and training for Chromalloy American Corp. § Computer Machining, Related
drawing, and Construction trade skill training for US Naval Reserve Related
Academics As a National Leader in the integration of academics and career/technical
