Marketing and Entrepreneurship Program - 16998

Student working registerGrade Placement: 9, 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: none

Did you ever want to own a business, be part of an advertising campaign or manage a hotel? The demand for quality service industry employees in Dauphin County is at an all time high. The DCTech Marketing and Entrepreneurship program prepares students for entry-level and management level marketing positions in the retail, sales, and hospitality fields. The Marketing and Entrepreneurship program emphasizes industry certification, internships and the opportunity to earn college credits upon successful completion of the program.

Marketing and Entrepreneurship students learn how to promote products, sell merchandise, manage people and start their own business. Part of the Marketing and Entrepreneurship Program includes operating the school store, The Spot, a hands-on learning laboratory for those wanting to operate a business. Visual merchandising, sales, pricing, promotion, human relations, business ethics and accounting are part of the curriculum. Additional experience comes from participation in DECA, A Professional Association of Marketing Students. DECA promotes vocational understanding, civic consciousness, social intelligence and leadership development.
Field Trips, Shadowing, Internships and Co-Op are major components of the Marketing and Entrepreneurship program. Students have many opportunities to work side by side with our local service professionals including The Hershey Entertainment and Resorts Company and the many participating members of the Dauphin County Lodging Association, Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association and the Pennsylvania Retailers Association.
