Students who like working with big vehicles and equipment
learn the theory and practical skills for repairing medium-to-heavy
duty trucks. Additionally they will prepare to work
with other diesel engine vehicles and machinery, including
ships, stand-by generators, trains and construction equipment. Areas
of study include the use of technical manuals, a variety
of power and hand tools, instruction in diagnosis and malfunction
of computer controls, and parts inspection, repair and
replacement. Some work is also done with large on-road
and off-road gasoline-powered vehicles and equipment.
